MyWebGrocer To Host 1st Vermont Hackathon

Company offers $10,000 in cash prizes and 24 hours of good times

Colchester, VT — This fall, Vermont-based MyWebGrocer will host a 24-hour hackathon. The nonstop computer programming event invites students and professionals throughout New England to show MyWebGrocer and their peers what they’re made of, and a chance to win $10,000 in cash prizes.

“I wish I was eligible, because that is a lot of money,” said Jon Maddix the Development Manager of MyWebGrocer’s Facebook Apps. He also added, “We enjoy what we do and wanted to invite the local dev community to come collaborate in a fun atmosphere.”

Participants of the hackathon will use one or more of MyWebGrocer’s API’s (including recipe, grocery product, mobile, social and advertising web services) to build anything they want within a variety of different platforms, including web, mobile and Facebook. The event will supply participants with round-the-clock food and beverages, goodie bags, door prizes, bragging rights and opportunities to win $10,000 in cash prizes: $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place.

“It is so cool to meet other engineers and see new ideas emerge in such a short time. Add in free food, drinks and prizes and you’ve got a hack-a-party!” said Marlon Branicki, Director of Development at MyWebGrocer.

The first 20 participants to register will receive a $25 Starbucks gift card and be entered to win one of three Xbox 360 with Kinect packages.
